Well I’m sure everyone has heard by now, but the release of the Apple TV Take 2 has been announced at MacWorld. The Apple TV “Take 1″ we’ll go ahead and call it, was by no means a success. In reality the Apple TV was one of Apples least successful releases in 2007. Even Steve Jobs admitted in his keynote address that the Apple TV “has failed to meet expectations and truly link online content with the television.” So what does Take 2 offer that Take 1 didn’t?

The iPhone JailBreak for firmware 1.1.3 has finally been released! The links are scarce right now but, they should emerge very soon in the upcoming days.

Thats where the good news ends. The iPhone, according to “experts”, have a lower demand now. Has the iPhone image dimmed? Or is it just because of the economy?

Well for one, the iPhone is expensive and a lot of people already have it. Over 2.7 million iPhones have been sold already and Apple expects 2008 to yield 8 million more sales!

Not a suprising number if they release a 3G iPhone with higher capacity I believe.

 

Motorola has just came off a horrible 2007.

They did not introduce anything revolutionary such as the Razr back in early 2000-2001. Motorola had a horrible quarter 4 with unpleasurable profits.

My idea? Come up with something to challenge the likes of LG, Apple, and Samsung. Try a touch screen, go high end, go out of the ordinary! The thin Razr idea will only get you so far.

 

I know there has been a lot of Apple news lately but, it is just Apple’s year in 2007 and I think they will dominate 2008!

Apple has released figures that show they have had record sales since November! For one, they sold over 2 million Mac computers, over 20 million iPods, and over 2 million iPhones!

This accounts for over $1.5 billion in pure profits! Good job Apple.

 

The HTC Touch has been rumored for over a year now. A few weeks ago some spy pictures were released but here is the real deal.

Verizon Wireless is now getting the HTC Touch in a shiny white color. It will run Windows Mobile 6 and will have the TouchFLO technology built in. Expect it in the coming weeks and my guess would be that Verizon will sell it for $299 with a 2 year contract.

Not a big fan of Windows Mobile right now. Too bloated and too slow for the price especially with Palm and Apple in the picture.

 

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Apple has released the new iPod Nano in Pink.

The pink version has all of the same specifications as all of the other colors. There is a 4GB and 8GB model at $149 and $199 respectively.

I’m personally suprised they did not market the pink one for Brest Cancer research too.

 

Well, the iPhone did not meet expectations in the British homeland.

The iPhone was projected by Apple and a lot of experts to sell around 200,000 iPhones within the first 2 months of arrival. The iPhone fell short of 5% which meant that Apple only sold 190,000 iPhones.

Not a big deal and the reasoning is not a big suprise either.

For one, phones in the UK are usually free with a carrier contract and most people just think the iPhone costs too many pounds.

 

I know, it seems kind of weird that Apple did not annouce a new business oriented Macbook Pro at MacWorld but no worries, it seems Apple is readying to release it.

The new Macbook Pros are expected to have the new Intel Penryn chips along with the new touch interface features from the Macbook Air.

The design may get thinner and the keyboard will probably be carried over from the other Macbooks. (Not a personal fan)

I am also looking for the LED displays and of course the Solid State Harddrives that are available in the Macbook Air. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

 

Guitar and music games such as Rock Band and Guitar Hero are reasons for the gaming boom.

Both games have been so popular they account for more than 20-25% of all game sales! Both games are available for consoles such as the XBox 360 and they are just so darn attractive and addictive.

Both games require songs to play too of course and with these games, gamers are buying songs rapidly. Poor Apple and iTunes, they get left out; maybe they should have made a deal.

 

Apple’s iPhone has out sold the HTC Touch, one of the iPhone’s most popular touch screen competitors of 2007.

According to the numbers, Apple has sold about 4 million iPhones since the launch date. HTC said it only sold about 2 million Touches since its launch a few weeks before the iPhone.

Great numbers from Apple. HTC seems to not know that Windows Mobile seems to be too bloated and slow compared to Apple’s OS X. Nice try by HTC though, 2 million is quite impressive and the device is pretty slim.
